A Life Update- Joe and Britney Sweeney
This Post Isn’t About The Stock Market
As many of you know, my wife Britney Sweeney was diagnosed with stage IV Appendix Cancer in May 2021. We’ve had ups and downs but it’s been a grind lately.
We discovered early on that this disease's rarity and advanced stage meant treatments would likely be for quality of life. They don’t have a special, curative treatment for this type of Cancer yet.
We’ve been able to do a lot over the past few years. Trips nearly once a month. Social events occasionally. The 49 rounds of chemotherapy have worked well enough to keep things at bay until recently.
I’ve been out of the office the last few weeks as Britney was admitted 3x to the hospital since early March. It’s been a tough time for her and our family, and I’ve been spending a ton of hours outside of the office.

Anyways, I wanted to thank everyone for understanding. I’m checking emails sporadically, but thinking about you, our friends, and clients all the time. Renee, Katie, Karla, and Gloria have been working extra to pick up the slack. I so appreciate them stepping in.
I'll be back to a normal schedule at some point. I appreciate your grace in the meantime. I know it’s been a busy season with taxes for everyone.
Last Thoughts for Today
Like everyone, I’ll take a couple of minutes every day to log into the hellscape that is social media. Every platform that allows links or text seems dedicated to divisive political nonsense. Friends and Families are fighting in public. It’s like a bad Thanksgiving dinner 24/7. I wonder, when did we all get so tribal? What is the point?
There’s a sign that hangs in our office:
We’ve had it up since 2021. Every day that goes by it stays relevant. We haven’t thought about changing it.
Here’s what I know: Lunch with a friend is better than an hour of mindless scrolling. Dinner with family is more fulfilling when you talk about what you’re working on, rather than what’s on the news.
Markets, politics, and economies are always changing. Everything has its season. What’s important is to invest energy in the relationships that last.
Be good to each other
